Director John Hough’s 1978 Walt Disney Productions family sci-fi adventure sequel to the 1975 Escape to Witch Mountain is even better than his very good original.
Christopher Lee and Bette Davis star as a wicked scientist (Victor) and his strict assistant (Letha) who kidnap space children Tia and Tony (Kim Richards and Ike Eisenmann, returning from the first movie) to exploit their strange special supernatural powers.
Return from Witch Mountain is a top-quality Disney live-action adventure with a tense nuclear countdown climax, attractive Technicolor cinematography, an excellent Lalo Schifrin score, a handsome production and strong special effects.
Denver Pyle also reprises his role as Uncle Bené from Escape to Witch Mountain (1975), which has many of the same crew too.
Also in the cast are Jack Soo, Anthony James, Richard Bakalayan, Ward Costello, Brad Savage, Jeffrey Jacquet, Poindexter Yothers, Christian Juttner, Stu Gilliam, William Bassett, Tom Scott, Helene Winston and Bob Yothers.
Return from Witch Mountain runs 94 minutes, is made by Walt Disney Productions, is released by Buena Vista, is written by Malcolm Marmorstein, based on Alexander Key’s characters, shot in Technicolor by Frank V Phillips, produced by Ron Miller, Jerome Courtland and Kevin Corcorran, and scored by Lalo Schifrin.
