Writer-director Dylan Kidd’s 2002 Canadian drama Roger Dodger stars Campbell Scott, who is first rate as Roger Swanson, a womanising smoothie who is rejected by his boss Joyce (Isabella Rosselini) and takes his teenaged nephew Nick (Jesse Eisenberg) on a night of learning about love, meeting Andrea (Elizabeth Berkley) and Sophie (Jennifer Beals).
This unusual, smart-talking movie is dark-hued, clever and packed with witty, jaded humour. Roger Dodger is the best thing the talented Scott has done in ages.
Also in the cast are Mina Badie, Ben Shenkman, Chris Stack, Stephanie Gatschet, Colin Fickes, Tommy Savas, Gabriel Millman, and Libby Larson.
It is Eisenberg’s movie debut.
