Rupture ***½ (2016, Noomi Rapace, Michael Chiklis, Peter Stormare, Lesley Manville, Kerry Bishé) – Movie Review

Co-writer/ director Steven Shainberg’s 2016 movie is really good stuff, engrossing and original, pitched successfully somewhere between a thriller, sci-fi and a horror movie. So it is satisfyingly different from your average chiller movie.

Noomi Rapace is very good indeed as the resourceful single mother in peril, who is abducted by a mysterious organisation and desperately tries to break free from the deeply sinister prison where they are holding her – and others.

You never really know quite where the disorientating Rupture is headed, but you certainly stay in there riveted all the way to find out.

Michael Chiklis, Peter Stormare and Lesley Manville make up a nice evil bunch as the movie’s villains.

The ending satisfies but it leaves you asking for more, so now I’m looking for the sequel or the TV series spinoff.

It comes from Andrew Lazar, the producer of American Sniper (2014), and Steven Shainberg, the director of Secretary (2002).
