Sandokan alla Riscossa [Sandokan Fights Back] ** (1964, Ray Danton, Guy Madison, Franca Bettoia) – Classic Movie Review 7969

For director Luigi Capuano’s 1964 Sandokan alla Riscossa [Sandokan Fights Back], Ray Danton and Guy Madison star in another episode of this intriguing Italian sword-and-sandal series, in which this time the prince Sandokan battles to re-assume control of his kingdom as the rightful heir to the throne of Malaysia.

Franca Bettoia also stars as Samoa, Mario Petri as Sir Charles Brooks, Alberto Farnese as Tremal Naik, Mino Doro as Lumbo and Sandro Moretti as Kammamuri.

It may be dated and naïve seeming, but it is a busy, imaginative fantasy adventure, motoring on an entertaining story, amusing acting and canny handling.

Sandokan alla Riscossa [Sandokan Fights Back] is followed immediately by the 1964 sequel Sandokan Against the Leopard of Sarawak (1964), part two of the story, in which Ray Danton and Guy Madison return as Sandokan and his buddy Yanez.
