Ben Gazzara is excellent in director Terence H Winkless’s contrived, dark-toned but taut and highly watchable 1996 psychological thriller, Scene of the Crime [Ladykiller].
Despite being under investigation for a blunder that resulted in his partner’s death, veteran cop Lt. Jack ‘Jigsaw’ Lasky (Gazzara) feels forced to act when a serial killer begins stalking his daughter’s college. He teams up with a would-be actor, Richard Darling (Alex McArthur), who is a main suspect in the case. So can Gazzara trust him?
Also in the cast are Stephen Davies, Terri Treas, Renee Allman, Jacob Witkin, Lucy Lee Flippin, Jeannie Millar, Tim De Zarn and Steven Tannen.
Scene of the Crime [Ladykiller] is directed by Terence H Winkless, runs 95 minutes, is made by Concorde Pictures and New Horizons Picture, is released by Showtime Networks, is written by Craig J Nevins, is produced by Roger Corman and Mike Elliott, is scored by Jeff Winkless and is designed by Nava.
The director plays one of the detectives, billed as Terence Henry.
