Writer-director Wes Craven’s 1989 horror thriller movie Shocker is an inventive, frightening film, with an eerie atmosphere, a truly evil villain and superb special effects. It stars Michael Murphy, Peter Berg and Mitch Pileggi.
A killer is on the loose in a small American town, murderous TV repairman Horace Pinker (Mitch Pileggi), and the latest victims are the family of the police lieutenant, Don Parker (Michael Murphy), who is heading the investigation. Peter Berg plays Jonathan Parker.
For those with strong stomachs, Shocker is one of the horror hits of its year.
Also in the cast are Cami Cooper [Camille Cooper], John Tesh, Heather Langenkamp, Sam Scarber, Ted Raimi [Theodore Raimi], Richard Brooks, Virginia Morris, Emily Samuel, Peter Tilden and Timothy Leary.
Shocker is directed by Wes Craven, runs 110 minutes, is made by Alive Films, Universal City Studios and Carolco International, is released by Guild (UK) and Universal Pictures (1989) (US), is written by Wes Craven, is shot by Jacques Haitkin, is produced by Marianne Maddalena and Barin Kumar, is scored by William Goldstein and is designed by Randy Moore.
It is advertised as ‘From the director of A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Serpent and the Rainbow.’
Wes Craven died on 30 aged 76.
