There is a great cast to give a lift to directors Glenn Durfort and Colin Teague’s grim, rough-hewn, and typically reprehensibly violent 2002 British-made gangster thriller movie, in which an Irish gang leader becomes embroiled in a web of drugs, gun-running, lust and loyalty.
Writers Louis Dempsey and Andrew Howard give themselves main roles as recent ex-con Gilly and drug-using hustler J. Gary Young also scripts. It is advertised as ‘In the tradition of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels‘ so you will know what to expect.
It also stars Adrian Dunbar, Gerard Butler, Jason Hughes, Ioan Gruffudd, and Matthew Rhys.
Also in the cast are Jamie Sweeney, Melanie Lynskey, Emma Fielding as Detective Inspector Sarah Pryce, David Kennedy as Sergeant Webb and Joe Swash. Director Glenn Durfort gives himself a role as Glenn.
It is shot by Tom Erisman, produced by Margery Bone and scored by Kemal Ultanur.
It will come as no surprise that there is strong violence, pervasive strong language, drug content and sexuality.
Teague went on to direct Spivs (2004) and The Last Drop (2006).
