The 1978 film Somebody Killed Her Husband is an old-style thriller in which Farrah Fawcett falls for Jeff Bridges and her husband turns up dead.
Director Lamont Johnson’s 1978 Somebody Killed Her Husband is a fair, old-style comedy mystery thriller in which unhappily married Jenny Moore (Farrah Fawcett) falls for Jerry Green (Jeff Bridges) in Macy’s store in Manhattan, New York City, but then they find her husband Preston (Laurence Guittard) dead in her apartment.
When they are suspected of his murder (and of three other deaths too), they set out to look for the real killer, following clues prompted by Watergate.
Nice performances from the likeable stars, solid direction and fragrant location filming help a fairly mundane mystery, written by the talented Reginald Rose, whose screenplay was nominated for an Edgar Allan Poe Award.
This represented Fawcett’s shaky bid for cinema stardom after Charlie’s Angels. Bridges and Fawcett reunited for the 1989 See You in the Morning.
Also in the cast are John Wood as Ernest Van Santen, Tammy Grimes as Audrey Van Santen, John Glover as Herbert Little, Patricia Elliott as Helene, Mary McCarty as Flora, Laurence Guittard as Preston Moore, Vincent Robert Santa Lucia as Benjamin, Beeson Carroll as Frank Danziger, Eddie Lawrence as Other Neighbour, Arthur Rhyris as Customer, Jean-Pierre Stewart as Man in Beret, Terri DuHaime as Lulu’s Mother, Sands Hall as Girl Typist, Joseph Culliton, Dave Johnson, Melissa Ferris, Jeremiah Sullivan, Sloane Shelton, Mary Alan Hokanson, John Corcoran, and Mark Haber.
