Michael Rosenbaum, Barry Watson and Harland Williams star as a trio of playboy college students who are kicked out of their frat house dorm for rowdiness and forced to don drag and go undercover to pledge the ‘ugly girl’ sorority. They are then invited to a ‘dog catcher’ party at their old frat house.
Director Wallace Wolodarsky’s 2002 American college comedy is amiably daft, if totally predictable, with just about enough simple laughs to sustain it.
It is to the film’s considerable credit that it is funnier and sweeter, as well as less embarrassing than expected, in a reasonable script by Joe Jarvis and Greg Coolidge.
Also in the cast are Melissa Sagemiller, Tony Denman, Brad Beyer, Kathryn Stockwood, Heather Matarazzo, Yvonne Sciô, Kerru Higuchi, Dublin James, Omar Benson Miller and Daniel Farber.
It comes with an American R rating and a health warning about strong language, sex, nudity and drug use.
It was originally titled Dog Catchers.
