‘Hell hath no fury like Spawn of the Slithis.’
A really ugly, rubbery sea monster is spawned as a result of nuclear pollution and attacks the good people of Venice, California.
Writer-director Stephen Traxler’s 1978 low budget ($100,000) sci fi movie Spawn of the Slithis [Slithis] is basically a Fifties-style monster movie or creature feature, transplanted to the late Seventies, and way out of its time and long past its sell-by date.
It stars Alan Blanchard, Judy Motulsky, J C Claire, Mello Alexandria, Dennis Lee Falt, Hy Pyke and Bill J Stevens.
When the film was first released in the United States, lucky Americans could sign up for the Slithis fan club, and receive a Slithis survival kit and photo.
Win Condict has the dubious distinction of playing the monster. He was sewn into the rubber suit every day as it did not have any fasteners or zips, and then had to stay in it for the whole day’s shoot.
