Melvin Van Peebles writes, scores, edits, directs, produces and stars in the 1971 action crime drama Sweet Sweetback’s Baad Asssss Song.

Melvin Van Peebles is the whole show as Sweetback, a cool guy on the run from the police after attacking the two cops who arrest and beat up a young black man, in this provocative, violent, seminal, still effective Seventies Blaxploitation movie that ruffled a few feathers in its day.

Also in the cast are Rhetta Hughes, Simon Chuckster, Hubert Scales, John Dullaghan, Lavelle Roby, Mario Van Peebles (Young Sweetback) and John Amos.
