Director Kurt Neumann’s 1946 Tarzan and the Leopard Woman is boisterous jungle fun with Johnny Weissmuller, Brenda Joyce and Johnny Sheffield as Tarzan, Jane and Boy, and swings along at a swift pace.
A murderous African secret society captures the Tarzan family but Cheetah the chimp frees the Ape Man (Johnny Weissmuller) and he battles the rotten cult and their sexy leopard-skin-clad high-priestess Lea (Acquanetta).
Director Neumann whips up a fair amount of tension in this exotic, but still formulaic, tale, written by Carroll Young.
Also in the cast are Edgar Barrier, Tommy Cook, Dennis Hooey and Anthony Caruso.
Tarzan and the Leopard Woman is directed by Kurt Neumann, runs 72 minutes, is produced by Sol Lesser Productions, is released by RKO, is written by Carroll Young (original story, screenplay), is shot in black and white by Karl Struss, is produced by Sol Lesser and is scored by Paul Sawtell.
