Queen Latifah teams up with US comedian Jimmy Fallon as a New York City taxi driver and the cop who helps her tackle a four-woman gang of gorgeous Brazilian bank robbers (Gisele Bündchen, Ana Cristina De Oliviera, Ingrid Vandebosch, Magali Amadei).
On the plus side of director Tim Story’s desperately iffy 2004 American remake of the jolly French film Taxi (1998) are the admirable, effortlessly funny Latifah and the great stunts in the New York City street action.
Among the minuses, neither the mirthless Jimmy Fallon nor the scrappy script know how raise enough laughs. And Ann-Margret does not seem too happy as Fallon’s mother.
Also in the cast are Henry Simmons, Jennifer Esposito, Christian Kane, Boris McGiver, Joe Lisi and Byrna Weiss.
It is written by Ben Garant, Thomas Lennon and Jim Kouf, shot by Vance Burberry, scored by Christophe Beck, designed by Mayne Schuyler Berke and produced by the deviser of the original, Luc Besson.
