Director Robert Ellis Miller’s 1980 buddy-buddy comedy crime drama The Baltimore Bullet boasts a good title, good stars and cast and a good director.
The Baltimore Bullet is a rather likeable comic tale of a couple of pool sharks, Nick Casey, aka The Baltimore Bullet and Billie Joe Robbins (James Coburn, Bruce Boxleitner) trying to set up a big game with pool hustler The Deacon (Omar Sharif).
The three male stars twinkle and shine, even when John Brascia and Robert Vincent O’Neil’s screenplay, based on Brascia’s story, is rather obvious and derivative. Ronee Blakley is wasted as the sharks’ pick-up, Carolina Red.
The Baltimore Bullet may not be great, but it is entertaining and it will certainly do.
The cast also include Jack O’Halloran, Michael Lerner, Calvin Lockhart, Cisse Cameron, Paul Barselou, Rockne Tarkington, Shepherd Sanders, Lou Wagner, Jon Jacobs, Robert Hewes, Willie Mosconi, Jeff Temkin, and Eric Laneuville.
