The Bounty Hunter *** (2010, Jennifer Aniston, Gerard Butler, Gio Perez, Matt Malloy, Jason Sudeikis, Christine Baranski, Adam Rose) – Classic Movie Review 5530

Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler prove an appealing team with just enough of the right chemistry in director Andy Tennant’s easy-going, good-natured 2010 romantic comedy action thriller.

Aniston plays New York journalist Nicole Hurley, who skips a court appearance to follow a lead in a news story about police corruption and a murder cover-up. Butler plays her bounty hunting ex-cop former husband Milo Boyd, who gets the job of tracking her down and arresting her. But they soon find themselves bickering merrily away while running for their lives from the criminal Aniston is investigating. That’s it.

Admittedly, the slightly stale plot is a bit flimsy and familiar, but it supports the quite well-written laughs well enough, even if the movie’s shade longer than you’d want, running it into clock-watching overtime.

This is not a great movie by any means, but still it is a good trick that the film and the stars stay likeable, when so many rom-coms and their actors start to grate and irritate.

Also in the cast are Gio Perez, Matt Malloy, Jason Sudeikis, Christine Baranski, Adam Rose and Jeff Garlin.
