Director Peter Godfrey’s 1948 Warner Bros black and white drama The Decision of Christopher Blake stars Alexis Smith, Robert Douglas, Cecil Kellaway and Ted Donaldson. Ranald MacDougall writes the script and produces.
It’s that much loved (by film producers anyway) plot again about a 12-year-old boy called Christopher Blake (Donaldson) who sets out to reunite his divorcing parents Evelyn and Ken (Smith, Douglas) instead of having to decide which one to live with when the divorce suit goes to court. Evelyn may still love Ken but cannot forgive his infidelity, and their little son is hurt and confused.
You expect something sharper, more substantial and rather less boring from a film based on a play by Moss Hart, but at least there are several charismatic support performances by Cecil Kellaway and Harry Davenport as the judge and courtroom official, as well as John Hoyt as Mr Caldwell, Mary Wickes as Clara, and Art Baker as Mr Kurlick.
Also in the cast are John Hoyt, Lois Maxwell, Mary Wickes, Art Baker, Douglas Kennedy, Dick Baron, Joy Barlow, Barry Bernard, Edith Boyd, Mildred Boyd, Elena Boyd, Creighton Hale, Peter Godfrey, Renee Godfrey, and Bert Hanlon.
The Decision of Christopher Blake runs 75 minutes and was released by Warner Bros on December 23, 1948.
