Keanu Reeves grabs his chance to show his bad side and to do a spot of acting, which he does quite impressively.
In this one he plays a really unpleasant piece of work called Donnie Barksdale, who beats up his wife Valerie Barksdale (Hilary Swank), who is later found to have vanished.
In director Sam Raimi’s dark, spine-tingling 2000 supernatural thriller, Cate Blanchett gives a tour-de-force as Annie Wilson, a woman with extra-sensory perception who is asked by reluctant cops to help to find Swank. And when Jessica King (Katie Holmes) goes missing, her fiancé Wayne Collins (Greg Kinnear) turns to Annie for guidance.
It is written by Billy Bob Thornton and Tom Epperson.
Also in the cast are Michael Jeter, Giovanni Ribisi, Kim Dickens, Gary Cole, Rosemary Harris, Chelcie Ross, John Beasley and J K Simmons.
