Director Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia’s colourful, lively and fast-paced 1955 dubbed Italian romantic adventure swashbuckler The Golden Falcon [Il Falco d’Oro] is set in Sienna in the 17th century.
The story is about two rival families seeking to end their enmity by an arranged marriage when on comes the dynamic Anna-Maria Ferrero as the devious Fiammetta, the Golden Falcon who dons male clothes as part of her plot to thwart their plans.
The Golden Falcon also features attractive turns from exotic, glamorous Romanian beauty Nadia Gray as Ines della Torre, plus Massimo Serato as Massimo Montefalco and Frank Latimore as Simone, at the head of the not-too-familiar cast.
Also in the cast are Rose Alba, Mariangela Giordano, Carlo Sposito, Charles Fawcett, Arturo Bragaglia, and Umberto Sacripante.
The Golden Falcon [Il Falco d’Oro] [Der Goldene Falke] is directed by Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia, runs 98 minutes, is made by Po Film, distributed by Medallion Pictures (1965) (US) (dubbed), is written by Sandro Continenza, Stefano Strucchi, Carlo Veo and Tullio de Tuddo, based on a play by Tirso de Molina, is shot in Ferraniacolor and Supercinescope widescreen by Alvaro Mancori, is produced by Ottavio Poggi and is scored by Ezio Carabella and Angelo Francesco Lavagnino, with Production Design by Ernest Kromberg.
Carlo Ludovico Bragaglia was born on 8 July 1894 in Frosinone, Lazio, Italy, and died on 3 January 1998 in Rome, Lazio, aged 103. He directed 63 features between 1932 and 1963.
