‘He’s In Trouble With That “Suzie Wong” Girl’

Director Daniel Petrie’s 1962 romance The Main Attraction stars clean-cut Pat Boone, in an unlikely piece of casting, as a sexy young American singer called Eddie, a guitar-playing drifter who causes a whole load of romantic trouble behind the scenes of a European circus in Italy, where is he is hired after encountering sexy older ventriloquist Gina (Mai Zetterling) looking for a new partner both on stage and in her bedroom.

But then he has a thing about the big-top’s young star, Italian bareback rider Tessa (Nancy Kwan). The circus is run by Rico Marino (Kieron Moore) and Elleanora Marino (Yvonne Mitchell), who have a trick riding acrobatic act with Elleanora’s younger sister Tessa.

Apart from the Brit character actor cast, The Main Attraction is hardly even a minor attraction.

Boone performs the title song ‘The Main Attraction’ (music by Pat Boone, lyrics by Pat Boone and Jeff Corey) and had a hit with it.

Also in the cast are Yvonne Mitchell, Kieron Moore, John le Mesurier (as Bozo!), Warren Mitchell, Lionel Murton and Lionel Blair.
