Director Gordon Douglas’s 1950 Columbia Pictures Cinecolor widescreen Western film The Nevadan [The Man from Nevada] stars Randolph Scott, Dorothy Malone, Forrest Tucker, Frank Faylen, George Macready and Jeff Corey.
Randolph Scott stars as Barclay, a Marshal who goes undercover after bad guys Galt (Macready) and Tanner (Tucker), who have stolen the gold in this run-of-the-prairie Western story but with good action stunts, attractive location cinematography, strong performances and incisively sharp direction.
Alas, the talented Malone has not got enough to do as the gal Scott has got the hots for.
Made in colour but the American TV version is in black and white.
Also in the cast are Charles Kemper, Tom Powers, Jock Mahoney, Stanley Andrews, James Kirkwood, Kate Drain Lawson, Olin Howland and Louis Mason.
Jock Mahoney has a small role in the film and was Scott’s double in the fight scene.
It runs 81 minutes.
