‘Thrill With Ali Baba and His Forty Thieves’ Universal Pictures studio remakes its 1944 hit Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, reusing much of its footage. It’s a low-budget, old-style adventure without the un-self-conscious, self-confident sense of fun of the original.
Little-known Peter Mann stars as Ali Baba, with Jocelyn Lane as the bikini-clad heroine Princess Amara, Gavin MacLeod as the villain Hulagu Khan, Frank McGrath as Pindar, Frank Puglia as Cassim and Peter Whitney as Abou, Greg Morris as Yusef, Frank DeKova as Old Baba and Irene Tsu as Nalu.
Oscar Brodney reworks the original story and screenplay by Edmund L Hartmann, and it’s directed by Virgil W Vogel.
