It is written by Scott Kosar, shot by Daniel Pearl, produced by Michael Bay and Mike Fleiss, scored by Steve Jablonsky and designed by Greg Blair. It is co-produced by Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper, creators of the original film and on whose characters and screenplay it is based.
It is the first of many horror remakes from Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes production company, including The Amityville Horror, The Hitcher, Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street.
It grossed $107 million on a $9 million budget. It counts as the fifth installment in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise,
A prequel was released in 2006, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
