Producers-directors Michael Herz and Lloyd Kaufman’s 1989 second sequel in their cheapo horror spoof trilogy is thin and by no means totally satisfying so don’t expect too much. But it is often still surprisingly funny and entertaining for horror fans, with some good one-liners and action, particularly at the start and at the climax.
Ron Fazio returns as the weedy janitor who fell into a barrel of toxic waste and turned into superhero Toxie. This time he is out of work and is tempted to become a yuppie by the suspiciously named evil Japanese conglomerate, the Apocalypse Inc corporation, and its devilish boss, the Chairman (Rick Collins).
The horror spoof series finale was filmed back to back with The Toxic Avenger Part II, or rather the original second film is split into two films, with this film made up of half the footage shot for The Toxic Avenger Part II.
It is written by Gay Partington Terry and Lloyd Kaufman.
Also in the cast are John Altamura, Phoebe Legere, Lisa Gaye, Jessica Dublin, Michael J Kaplan and Tsutomu Sekine.
It runs 88 minutes and 102 minutes in the director’s cut.
