Director Nora Ephron’s appealing and amusing 1992 comedy drama This Is My Life stars Julie Kavner, Samantha Mathis, Gaby Hoffmann, Carrie Fisher and Dan Aykroyd.

Nora Ephron, the Oscar-nominated writer of Silkwood (1983), When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Sleepless in Seattle (1993), gets her chance to direct with this showbiz comic tale of two girls, Erica and Opal, (Samantha Mathis, Gaby Hoffmann) growing up in the shadow of their famous stand-up comic mother, who neglects her two lonely daughters she travels the US relishing her new-found fame.

Julie Kavner as mom, Dan Aykroyd as her agent Arnold Moss, and Carrie Fisher give a likeable, nice, easygoing film the boost it needs.

The screenplay by Nora Ephron and her sister Delia Ephron is based on the novel This Is Your Life by Meg Wolitzer.

Also in the cast are Marita Geraghty, Bob Nelson, Caroline Aaron, Kathy Najimy, Danny Zorn, Welker White, Renée Lippin, Joy Behar, Estelle Harris, Sidney Armus, Annie Golden, Valri Bromfield and Tim Blake Nelson in his debut as Dennis.

Nora Ephron (1941–2012) went on to direct seven more films, starting with Sleepless in Seattle (1993).
