Director David Lane’s 1968 Thunderbird 6 is the amusingly daft sequel to Thunderbirds Are GO (1966).
Thunderbirds are go again in Gerry and Sylvia Anderson’s classic Sixties puppet animated action adventure based on the children’s TV stories of the adventures of the International Rescue team. This time the threat comes from the Black Phantom (the voice of Gary Files) in another basic plot with even more basic puppets. It depends on how old you are, or if you were around in the Sixties, but this could be seminal nostaglia.
Once again, there is a lot of enthusiasm and it looks good in wide screen. Sylvia Anderson is the voice of Lady Penelope, Peter Dyneley voices Jeff Tracy and Shane Rimmer voices Scott Tracy / Carter I.
Other voices are by Keith Alexander (John Tracy / Narrator), Geoffrey Keen (James Glenn), John Carson (Captain Foster II), Gary Files (Black Phantom / Captain Foster I / Lane), Christine Finn (Tin-Tin / Indian Fortune-Teller), Matt Zimmerman (Alan Tracy / Carter II), Jeremy Wilkin (Virgil Tracy / Hogarth) and David Graham (Gordon Tracy / Brains / Parker / Kyrano / Indian Stall-Keeper).
Thunderbird 6 is directed by David Lane, runs 90 minutes, is made by Associated Television (Overseas) and Century 21 Television, is released by United Artists, is written by Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson, is shot by Harry Oakes, is produced by Gerry Anderson and Sylvia Anderson, is scored by Barry Gray and is designed by Bob Bell.
