Tumbledown *** (2013, Brad Hallowell, Brett Faulkner, Todd Verow) – Classic Movie Review 12,976

Writer/ director Todd Verow’s 2013 erotic revenge thriller film Tumbledown is an extremely edgy, highly provocative ride through some dark sides of sexuality.

Middle aged Jay (Todd Verow) meets hunky 30-something bartender Rick (Brad Hallowell) in a gay bar and invites him to spend the weekend with him and his young partner Mike (Brett Faulkner) in their country cabin. Soon, sex, drugs, alcohol and romance lead to a complicated love triangle, and yes, those dark sides of sexuality.

Tumbledown is awkward, very strong material, quite well done though, and fearless. It is a borderline tacky porn movie, and a borderline amateur home movie, but there’s enough skill and talent in the acting and writing and directing to lift it above the level of both. A bit of a bleary eye-opener, it certainly keeps you watching, perhaps shocked or even appalled.

Tumbledown is inspired by true events, and seen through the different eyes of the three men. Tumbledown is named after Tumbledown Mountain in Franklin County, Maine, where this film was shot.

Expect frequent male nudity and sex scenes.

Brad Hallowell and Todd Verow.

Todd Verow is also the maker of Bad Boy Street (2012).

American film director Todd Verow was born in Bangor, Maine, on November 11, 1966 and lives in New York City. He formed Bangor Films in 1995 with his creative partner James Derek Dwyer.
