This time director Hy Averback’s 1984 updated sex comedy Where the Boys Are finds Lisa Hartman, Lorna Luft, Wendy Schaal and Lynn-Holly Johnson as the four college coeds heading for Florida’s Fort Lauderdale for their Easter week of Spring Break where the boys are gorgeous.
There is not much joy for this sexed-up Eighties remake of the Sixties comedy Where the Boys Are (1960), as girls just wanna have fun in Florida in the sun, and all they find is discos, drunks and desperation.
A sample line ‘All you need is a bikini and a diaphragm’ shows how the times they are a-changin’.
Hartman plays virginal Jennie, Luft plays outgoing Carole, Schaal plays rich, spoiled Southern belle Sandra and Johnson plays horny Laurie.
Also in the cast are Russell Todd, Howard McGillin, Alana Stewart, Louise Sorel, Christopher McDonald, and Daniel McDonald.
The screenplay by Jeff Burkhart and Stu Krieger is based on the novel by Glendon Swarthout.
Russell Todd plays Scott Nash, having just played Scott in Friday the 13th: Part 2. His debut was in He Knows You’re Alone (1980). He left acting in 1997 and now runs an agency for steadicam operators and A and B camera operators.
