Charm is high on the menu for director Fina Torres’s tasty, carefree romantic comedy soufflé Woman on Top (2000).
Penélope Cruz cooks up a delightful turn as a Brazilian chef called Isabella Oliveira, who moves to San Francisco when her husband Toninho (Murilo Benício) cheats on her.
Cruz ditches the hubby, and starts a new life as a TV cook, and becomes an overnight sensation. But then Toninho arrives in San Francisco to try to win her back.
Also in the cast are Harold Perrineau Jr, Mark Fuerstein, John de Lancie, Anne Ramsay and Ana Gastayer.
Woman on Top is directed by Fina Torres, runs 92 minutes, is made by Fox Searchlight, is released by 20th Century Fox, is written by Vina Blasi, shot by Thierry Arbogast, is produced by Alan Poul, is scored by Luis Enriquez Bacalov and is designed by Philippe Chiffre.
All the San Francisco interiors were shot in sound stages in Brazil.
