‘$10,000 REWARD! For the capture of Will Parker, the most desperate killer that ever rode the Western plains.’
Director George Sherman’s 1939 Republic Pictures film Wyoming Outlaw stars John Wayne, Ray Corrigan, Raymond Hatton, Don ‘Red’ Barry, Pamela Blake, LeRoy Mason and Charles Middleton.
John Wayne is a feisty hero as Stony Brooke in this modest but enjoyable short Three Mesquiteers Western, made for Republic Pictures studios. Ray Corrigan plays Tucson Smith and Raymond Hatton plays Rusty Joslin.
Don ‘Red’ Barry co-stars as the villain Will Parker, who is forced to steal cattle to survive, leading to the film’s fast-moving action. The young Wayne’s typical performance is the making of the film, which probably would be entirely forgotten otherwise,
Also in the cast are Katherine Kenworthy, Elmo Lincoln, Jack Ingram, David Sharpe, Jack Kenney, Yakima Canutt, Curley Dresden, Bob Burns, Al Taylor, Jack Kirk, Jack Rockwell and Ralph Peters.
Wayne played the lead in eight of the 51 films in the Republic Pictures Three Mesquiteers series as Stony Brooke: Pals of the Saddle, Overland Stage Raiders, Santa Fe Stampede, Red River Range, The Night Riders, Three Texas Steers, Wyoming Outlaw, and New Frontier. Stony Brooke was played by Bob Livingston in 29 films and Tom Tyler in 13 films.
The cast are John Wayne as Stony Brooke, Ray ‘Crash’ Corrigan as Tucson Smith, Raymond Hatton as Rusty Joslin, Don ‘Red’ Barry as Will Parker, Pamela Blake [Adele Pearce] as Irene Parker, LeRoy Mason as Joe Balsinger, Charles Middleton as Luke Parker, Katherine Kenworthy as Mrs Parker, Elmo Lincoln as US Marshal Gregg, Jack Ingram as Sheriff Nolan, David Sharpe as Newt, Jack Kenney as Amos Doyle, and Yakima Canutt as henchman Ed Sims, Jack Kenney, Curley Dresden, Bob Burns, Al Taylor, Jack Kirk, Jack Rockwell and Ralph Peters..
