Dakota Fanning provides the voice of Coraline Jones, a girl who finds a parallel world with folk who have buttons instead of eyes, caring parents and all her dreams coming true, in Henry Selick’s lovely, haunting 2009 animated feature.

Coraline finds a hidden door with a bricked up passage moves to an old house, where she is bored and neglected by her parents (Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman). She crosses the passage during the night and discovers the alternate reality where the Other Mother invites Coraline to stay forever.

Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French provide the inimitable voices of Miss April Spink and Miss Miriam Forcible.

Selick writes the screenplay, adapting the children’s book by Neil Gaiman.
